Palace of Versailles is absolutely breathtaking and enormous. The beautifully painted ceilings, magnificent artwork, royal apartments of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and the stunning chapel with its grand organ make the palace unforgettable. The Hall of Mirrors was truly extraordinary and one of the highlights of the visit.

Visit to Palace of Versailles

We took the Metro to Palace of Versailles and, with a little help from friendly locals, found our way there without any problems. We visited during the middle of winter, so it was quite cold and windy, but the palace was still very enjoyable and fascinating to explore.

 

The gardens were definitely the highlight of the visit, so I would recommend going during warmer weather if possible to fully enjoy them. Also, make sure to book your entry tickets in advance, as tours and time slots can sell out very quickly.

This was easy to organise and the visit was really interesting and fun. We went in cold, cold January and it was snowing, so the grounds were very pretty, which was an added bonus. I would recommend catching the RER train down there from central Paris, which was very easy (despite a delay on the train).
